Hello HTQ , starting to recover,lol... We arrived Monday evening here and I went back to work Tuesday evening. I work 4, 10 hour days so today is my first day off and ready for my 3 days off.

I noticed you all were talking about the new DOT physical rules , can you tell me the basics of what has changed that it will affect the number of drivers and wannabe drivers that might not pass now ?

    HometimeQueen Thanks this.

Left Amarillo TX after a 32 hour wait. About 730pm central time I finally left there drove until 2am, pulled into a rest area about 100 miles away from Arkansas border. Got up at 5am drove three more hours and stopped at Clarksville at a small no name Shell truck stop. But it had parking. Enough. Until tonite. Deuces.

none of the laws have changed Dennis
    some Dr's apply them differently
and some companies require different things
i posted the link to the federal guidelines
some time ago when Jaso first got his new med card
I have had 3 dOT physicals each Dr looking for different things
of course as we age and our bodies betray us it just keeps changing
    weight smoking sleep apnea
    meds for conditions like diabetes
    all hot button items
that said there was a driver last night we were talking about this subject
had a quadruple bypass and is back driving

but in the wisdom of the goverment they want me to quit smoking but Chantrix is not approved

wulfman75, dennisroc and jaso36 Thank this.

Th Dr I had told me when the ACA passed there were more regulations in it for the DOT physical, no one paid attention to that part.
Cranky the driver you talked to did he have to go see a cardiologist? Mine told me he had to send one guy to one cause he had the same heart problem for over 20 years but the cardiologist wouldn't pass him. I have 1 friend whose Dr told him he was obese and only gave him 1 year and told him if he did not lose weight he would not pass him next year.
HTQ your brother can't print up anymore medical cards cause now there is a national registry that ties your CDL and your medical card. Remember we all had to go by January and show the DMV your medical card. My Dr told me that if Drs are just passing drivers through it and that driver had a heart problem and something happens cause of said heart problem that Dr. could lose their ability to give DOT Physical. In my county last year plenty of Drs who gave the DOT physical and this year only 3. In fact the other Dr. in the office was not allowed to give them cause he did not take the qualifying courses yet. It might take more than January of 2016 to take affect cause there is a lot of fraud and some Dr.s will have to lose their qualifications for others to fall in line.
If you are in decent health you should have no problems and there is nothing for sleep apnea. Cranky they will ask you if you smoke and if you say yes and you are over 35 you will have to pay an additional charge to take a breathing test. They only give you 3 shots at it but it wasn't hard. You will have to blow air into this device and it measures how much pressure you can blow out.
jungho I agree that it is better overall that we get drivers in better physical condition. Some out here can barely walk have always wondered how they have a medical card. But there isn't an industry that can take that kind of loss without severe consequences, what they will be I have no idea as I am not that smart just ask my wife. LOL

    Be safe out there.

Wouldn't you know, the electrical problem was caused by a driver, that made a turn to short, hit their pole, and ripped the line off.

I have a cousin, that I am so ashamed of!!!!! Ok.... so she is only in her 30's but, not to know who lauren Bacall is..... is just bad!!!! lol

As to what the fmcsa is up to..... lets see, over 500 thousand trucking companies and (I believe), it was 400 inspectors, how would you go about getting rid of the smaller companies? Oh yea, lets over regulate them so much, that they go out of business, and only the ATA will be left. 10 thousand companies is much more managable!!!!

the guy had to be passed by his cardiologist yes
just as my pulmonary dr had to pass me
and your dr treating diabetes will have to pass you
my only point is the DOT physical you had that DR was more thorough
then the regulations as they are written TODAY say are compulsory

sleep apnea weight etc is at the discretion of the administrating dr and/or the companyhttp://www.fpnotebook.com/prevent/HME/DtExmntn.htm
