Sorry for standing on my soap box.....again, jdmredneck! :biggrin_2559: I know that you are aware of what we think about leasing.
There are many legitimate gripes about TransAm.....but that goes with the industry in general. Home time is not a legitimate complaint .....they truly do their best to get you home when you are supposed to be there. So long as you use your time wisely, stay ahead of schedule as much as possible and take care of business, then you should be home on schedule.
Holidays are not a legitimate complaint. The trucking industry is a 24/7 365 day a year job.....that is what you sign up for when you accept a job as a driver. Whenever the King was home, that was our holiday.

Can you all tell that my patience is running a bit thin? :biggrin_2554: I am beginning to sound like the Cranky One :biggrin_25521:

You'll do fine Redneck. Just pay attention to the details. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Easy thing to say but hard to do sometimes. Other guys try to act like they know everything and might try and make you feel stupid for asking but that question may save you hours down the road. HTQ is right about maintenance. Fixing a light yourself could save you hours. TA will reimburse for the light. Plenty of drivers there will tell you to go to a shop cause you don't get paid and their right but you lose money by not driving and if the shop is busy you might lose a good load cause you might not be able to do on time delivery for a stupid light that would take you ten minutes tops to change. Effiency is key with time.
    Good luck

I do not know how many more planning meetings for the city that I can attend or how many more late night and early morning phone calls I can listen to. I have become the listener and arbitrator.....always trying to reach a compromise.......when I really just want to scream "GROW UP!!!" I think they are starting to realize that they have used up my patience.....so far tonight, no phone calls ......but it isn't midnight yet.
:biggrin_2557: I just don't play well with others....

    jaso37, gntorres61 and jdmredneck33 Thank this.

I never meant to complain about hometime. Just wanted everyone to know what to expect. TransAm did their best to get me home ontime. But trucking is trucking. Breakdowns sometimes cannot be avoided, but looking back, there were a few times I ignored a check engine light. Yes, my ignorance costed me quite a few days, or caused me to chase down recovery trucks. Those warning lights don't go ignored anymore.
