I have a few different storage units in different places at different times. Both at home and abroad. I like to use large zippered, plastic storage bags for the stuff. Keeps everything clean and dry. They are popular in Asia and I can get the very large size ones in a Thai market for about $3 a piece but I bet you can find them on Ebay also.

I keep at least one on hand in the truck and when I travel, they come in handy for all kinds of purposes.

I did 5 recoveries in my time with TransAm. I took necessary clothing, pillow, bedsheets, toiletries, map book, lumper checks, cb radio, a few snacks, trip sheets. Southwest Airlines allows two bags to fly free after that $75/ bag. Fit what you can in 2 bags. I had no problem with leaving stuff on my truck. Never lost anything.

George brings up a good point. Doing a recovery, I was not concerned about my stuff in my main truck, it was about bringing what I needed, without being too burdened, with me on the recovery.

Southwest does allow two free checked bags, one carry-on, plus one personal item (like a laptop) but remember you will have to lug all that stuff around and transfer it all in a taxi, etc.

Replace the CB with a pair of seal / bolt cutters and I like George's list. Add work gloves and a small hot pot/coffee maker.

The same exact thing happened to one of my students. They will want to send his truck to body shop and maybe will give him another truck. The students truck got a whole new paint job. With the mileage on Rednecks truck and if they can get the insurance to paint the whole truck wouldn't surprise me if they tried to sell it. They are phasing out the 700s and with new paint it is worth more.

No good spongies just yet, but I'm optimistic ;) I HAVE been able to turn my superior schmoozing skills into maximum morphine. Which is nice.

Sending good thoughts your way, scott ! .....for your sake and the sake of all the nurses!:biggrin_2559:

Seriously, I am glad you are doing well. I know this scared your family.....they are in my prayers also.

Now behave....or I will start hoping that they will send you a 350 lb., 60 year old nurse named Greta to give you your sponge bath. :biggrin_25522:
