I'm wondering that myself.
We have a few trucks with that sign emblazoned on the side.
We also have quite a few ninnies with sensitive rear ends. -
Actually, I dont know yet. No electricity to it yet. Guess the shop forgot to wire it. And so did I. Just hopped in and took my trailer and ran to NJ.

Anyone know at what mileage TransAm retires company trucks?
-
I think between 5 -600,000 miles.
Hick Thanks this. -
Ok. The mechanic that fixed it when I broken down the other day said that he didn't figure they would be running my truck much longer with 500k on it. But another guy there was saying that some he's seen in there have over 800k. Just wondering.

The trucks listed for sale on the website show between 400,000 and mid 7's probably the lease trucks are at the high end. They are all the MX engine.
Hick Thanks this. -
The keep detailed records on each truck and use more than just miles to factor to when to trade a truck out. I had one company truck assigned to me with 660,000 miles on it. Most others between 350 and 500K.Hick Thanks this.

I was just contacted by TransAm and sent a Pre Hire letter. I have researched them and read many of the negative stories about them in different forums on here and other sites. This thread seems to have the most active and former employees. So I wanted to just ask what is the benefits of driving for Trans Am or are there any benefits of driving for them? I have several pre hire letters and I am wanting to decide on the company I will go to before I head out to CDL school. My plan is to go directly to the company I will drive for after graduating from CDL school. I am not at all concerned about home time as I have traveled all over the world and am very used to being gone from home from 6 weeks to 8 months at a time in my previous career. I also am coming into the Industry because I WANT to.. What I mean is I am not in a situation that I have to work for TransAm or anyone. Money is not the reason I have chosen to enter this industry either.... What is most important to me in choosing a company is Miles. I want to make sure that the company has the miles available if a driver is willing to stay out and run the miles... Also I have no desire to drive for a company that has or is testing driver facing cameras on there trucks. I have only seen 1 post that says TransAm uses them. The recruiter I spoke with said they did not and have no intentions of using them.. Now before someone gives me all the reasons that cameras should not concern me.. I will just tell you that my issue with the cameras is that the carriers are already controling a vast majority of my life which I completely understand and am signing up for but I will not have them tell me that I do not have a choice about having a camera facing me.. If the choice is have the camera or do not drive for them I will choose not to drive for any of them.. But it will remain my choice ... Thanks for any information on Trans Am .

I have been gone from TA for quite awhile now. TA is a last chance company for people with problems and can't get hired by anyone else.
Having said that, they are a training company like most you will have to start with. Miles will vary and you will be doing lots of swaps. As a reefer outfit, you'll also be doing a lot of sitting at meat plants.
From my understanding, they DO have inward facing cameras. Most of the big training companies do now. You may have to tolerate that, until you can get experience under your belt. Hope that helps some.
