Thanks.. Yes it helps.. I have other pre hire letters and have specifically stayed away from what I consider Mega Carriers such as Swift Cr England Prime Stevens Schneider etc. Of the companies I have pre hire letters from only 2 are Reefer the others are Flatbed which is what I am leaning towards.. The cameras are a deal breaker for me so if they in fact are using them I can scratch them off my list.. I do not have any issues that would require me to need a second chance especially since I have not started yet.. Thanks for the information..

I assume this is the inside of a Trans Am truck

Oopps, my bad. I forgot I drove for Swift. Excuse me.
Big Papaxx Thanks this. -
I am a current lease operator for Trans Am. we do have the cameras. a cameras record 24/7 but no 1 season unless there is an event. if you have any other questions feel free to ask. Trans Am does have the miles here it just depends on the freight line that you're in at the moment
-
Big Poppa I was the same way you are will not even talk to company with the cameras. after I talk to a representative with drive cam he explain to me how the cameras have saved a lot of drivers from being sued and losing their jobs I reconsidered. now I don't even realize is there

Thank you dano86.. I do have a question since you are a lease op are you given the choice to not have the camera since the truck is supposed to be yours and your business? Also as far as mileage when you say depends on the freight lane.. Are you assigned the lane or do you choose?
-
unfortunately the camera is in all the trucks including us lease ops. usually we will pick up and meet load in the Midwest take it to the east coast pick up your dry load and bring back right now Colorado and north east is slow on freight. no afraid you can choose if you want to take the load or decline if you lease
Big Papaxx Thanks this. -
Yes I have heard that as well dano86 and thanks.. But I have done extensive research on the cameras and while in some instances it has saved the driver from being sued which in turn has saved the carrier. Which is the primary reason the carriers have started using them. Now outward facing cameras would not be an issue for me but there is absolutely NO evidence ( after independent studies) that in ward facing cameras in any way provides additional safety or reduces incidents. In fact 1 study has shown that if anything it actually increases the risk of incident because of decreasing the drivers focus and increasing his stress. The reality is that in a situation that would involve a law suit they are going to go after the carrier first due to the fact that the carrier has the money.. Drivers do not have those assets. So the carrier knowing this will use that same camera they say is saving the driver. Against the driver to save themselves by finding fault with the driver whenever possible..Panhandle flash Thanks this.
