Ok after seeing all the bashing that TransAm is taking and being told to check the safety scores on the site, I finally decided to take a look at the safety record. To me the safey rating being as high as it is looks like it is mostly driver errors and ignorence. The biggest viloations that I saw were for drugs and alcohol, and driving while suspended or no CDL, and HOS violations. The vehicle issues seem like normal wear and tear, but some should have been found during the pre-trip like condition of mudflaps and ensuring that all the lights are working, though I will give for the lights as they may burn out while on the road and they may not have been near anyplace to replace them, expecially the rear lights as you would not be able to see them while driving.

Then I thought how would I be if I was in charge of a company that had issues with drivers not doing the things they are supposed to be doing and doing things that they should not be doing while on the road how would I treat them? My first thought would be that they have to prove themselves valuable to the company before really giving any special treatment and until the drivers prove themselves to be valuable treat them all the same.

Now out of the new drivers that are bashing the company how many of them got treated like crap cause they expected special treatment and only accepted the loads they wanted and always turned down the crap loads which problebly ensured they would not get much period.

But hey this is just my thought and opinion on everything that I am reading about the company. Overall it does look like a good place to start so long as you are willing to work and deal with the ocasional BS from time to time.

Ugh Cactus, I hope not! I'm down for Amarillo, but leaning toward Dodge. I think I might be in reach of Emporia too. Thanks for the feedback Pete!

If your a company driver, you can only turn down loads under special circumstances, like no hours available. As for the lights, when I was there, you had to have 3 marker lights out before they would get it fixed. Kind of ticked me off over that, cause it was MY score they were messing with.

As for pretripping a trailer, most of them don't do it, and those that do, don't do it right. Why?? Cuase it's not, or it wasn't, taught. Also, most of TA's drivers won't fix anything, they'll just call it in.... then wait for it to get fixed. One trick I learned was, after the breakdown message was sent, I'd send another, requesting if I could just buy the part and replace it myself. That's if it was fixable at my level.

Are TA's trucks governed and if so how fast ?
I seen on a TA video that they have their own navigation and it looks like it is also a way to do electronic logs. does it do both ?

And how do you turn your paper work in to get paid can you do it through Qualcomm or do you have to do it from a truck stop ?

You might get really surprised, and get sent to the caves for some cheese. Know I did that a couple of times.

Used to be, you went to a truck stop with a transflo system, and sent your paper work in that way. Now a days, they have an app for that but don't know if their drivers are allowed to use it.

Hmmmm, dennisroc, read between your lines on my reply, and some of your answers are they. Not sure why it came out the way it did.

If any of ya'll is traveling US 30 in Indiana, make sure you add plenty of time to you drive. A lot of it has been turned down to 45 for some reason, and the road construction, is frustrating as all get out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
