Well, didn't have to sweep out the trailer as my receiver had his own leafblower and took care of me. Gotta love country folk! This week, mostly short trips since I have been running on recaps. Monday picked up in Swannanoa NC for a Tues morn delivery in Winchester VA, then picked up six miles away and dropped in Cranbury NJ at 3pm, picked up in Dayton, 5 miles away and delivered yesterday at 4pm in Henderson NC. Given a hot load 2 hours away in Winston Salem taking it to Garner, outside of Raleigh, then either home for a reset, or another short up and back then home. Need to get a refill on my BP medicine. Jaso said it would be busy. And how!

I know, jaso! It is that time of the year when I need to keep up with the weather reports. From what I have read we should have a milder winter than last year. December's weather should be similar to November's. The problem with having a warmer winter is that many times that brings more precip in the form of ice rather than snow. I will try to do better about the reports!

I have been doing some research on my dad's condition. There is indeed a connection between Vietnam-era veterans and dementia. One study says that veterans during that time period are almost 5 times more likely to develop early onset Alzheimers and dementia. There have been other studies on veterans of all eras that also show a link.
jungHo, I know that your dad also suffered with this insidious disease. Was he also a veteran? One theory among all veterans is a form of TBI from the noise and vibration of the weapons of war.dennisroc, jaso37 and scottlav46 Thank this. -
That's an interesting study, HTQ. My dad was a veteran. He was in the army and fought during WWII in Germany. He was diagnosed with PTSD too, which many vets also have.
dennisroc and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
According to the study, the diagnosis of PTSD goes hand in hand with this type of thing. They are all labels put on a progression of what is really the same illness. Who knows?.....but it does lead you to wonder. There are some additional funds and benefits available for these veterans and even for their widows.....but 64% of folks are not aware of this program and never file for it. I had no idea until I started wondering if there was a connection between dementia and the service......why don't they let you know about these things??

Michigan State Police (MSP) motor carrier officers will join officers from the Indiana State Police and Ohio Highway Patrol in focusing their enforcement on I-94 next week as part of the week-long ‘Eyes on 94’ commercial vehicle crash reduction effort.
During this multi-state initiative, officers will focus on violations by commercial vehicle drivers that are likely to contribute to a crash including speeding, following too closely, improper passing, distracted driving and improper lane use. Motor carrier officers will also be stationed at rest areas to provide educational materials about safely sharing the road with trucks.
“This initiative is a great example of the commitment by the MSP, Indiana State Police and Ohio Highway Patrol to the common goal of traffic safety and crash reduction,” stated Capt. Michael Krumm, commander of the MSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. “This coordinated operation is an effort to increase awareness and education by means of high visibility enforcement on the I-94 corridor, which is prone to weather-related crashes.”
Multi-state commercial vehicle enforcement initiatives allow for neighboring states to align their resources to focus their attention on safety concerns on interstate traffic. The MSP’s participation in these joint initiatives aims to increase the safety of those traveling on Michigan roads. This initiative is part of the statewide Toward Zero Deaths traffic safety campaign, based on the national strategy on highway safety, which seeks to reduce the number of traffic deaths on our country’s freeways.gntorres61, jaso37 and dennisroc Thank this. -
I'm not shooting the messenger htq....and thank you for that post....maybe law enforcement should focus alot more on 4 wheelers to as the same amount as they are on 18 wheelers...
jaso37 and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
Man am I glad I don't live in michigan....wait....dadgum it I live in michigan.
gntorres61, jaso37, dennisroc and 1 other person Thank this. -
I thought about you when I saw this, scott! It is a multi-state enforcement effort,(Michigan, Ohio, Indiana) so heads up to everyone. The one thing about stuff like this .....the different state organizations always seem to want to out do what their neighboring states are doing, so I look for more states to be added to the list.
I agree, Crazy driver. I know most of you don't realize it because you are always in the truck.....but it is crazy the way other cars cut off one another too. That is the main reason that Number One Daughter will not take her driver's test.....people are crazy with the way that they drive around trucks and cars.
There is some other news today about CSA scores. I haven't read the whole bill but so far I see nothing that will change much for the driver. The changes may help smaller carriers and O/O somewhat, but the basic problems within the CSA system are still the same ....they are just going to hide some of it from public view. ....Typical thinking now days, the way to solve a problem is to hide it......NOT.
