Actually, I think it was related to the fact that I ran my mouth about the guy that took advantage of my dad....it seems to fit that time frame. The only thing that was done was damage to the jag.....it was simply a warning. Missouri is a wild and wooly place, that's for sure! I lived in Houston for many years.....it is nothing compared to this part of Missouri.
How are you doing scott? ...And where are you at?

Well, that's totally up to you ....your experience in trucking is based on what you make of it.....and what you learn along the way. All of us here.....being a bit older ....would tell you that we are still on a learning curve.

    LuDiesel and gntorres61 Thank this.

This was an interesting read, Hick, I hadn't seen this one. At one time I had counted up 52 different lawsuits against TransAm.(My guess would be that isn't unusual. Other large carriers probably have a similar record.)
I think that slowly the tide is turning against some of the business practices in this industry as it relates to the treatment of drivers. I don't believe that we will ever regain the ground that was lost .....too many people make a good living off of the backs of drivers. I do believe that we will win some of these battles. I think that is what these lawyers see also. There is some movement on a Federal level toward fair pay for a driver's time. Actually, one of the reasons for this is related to elogs. Driver's were exempt because at that time a company had no way to determine actual hours that were job related. That is no longer the case with the technology that is available for tracking every move you and that truck make.

I should also add that this is another good reason to make sure that you request copies of your elogs.

The northeast seems to be this mysterious entity in trucking. I have seen lots of advertisements about no NE driving/ no forced NE dispatch. I assume if you work for TransAm you will end up running in the NE? Since I have seen so many negative things about it I guess I would prefer not to drive in the NE unless it's a company requirement.

driving the northeast as a horrible thing is highly over rated
Pittsburgh is by far the worst city to drive in the country
    Atlanta is terrible
Dallas/ Fort Worth Houston give Texas a bad name
there is snow in NE snow along 80 snow in OR
ice storm in OK might be worse then anything
because of lack of equipment to handle it
    it all requires truck driving
none of it is hard or impossible
it is part of the thing on the lcense called a CDL
you never get used to back ups
    tight spots or bad weather
you just learn how to maximize your day around it

After you gain experience and move on to a better company, many of them pay extra for loads to the northeast.
It is as Pete said, part of the job. The only way to learn it is to experience it. If you go with a company that pays extra for loads to the northeast then that experience would be considered "money in the bank", wouldn't it?
