    Well guys, don't hate me.

I took the truck to my trusted shop to finish the flushing. I bought 2 gal. of Cummins Restore and left it with him. Thankfully, he viewed it as "it's what I do". He's dealt with failed oil coolers before and knows what he's up against.

I have other stuff going on that I need to do. I'm just not setup for the inevitable mess the flushing will create.

Thanks to everyone that replied, I'll keep you posted on the outcome,,,,I promise.

    Goodysnap Thanks this.

As promised, here's the outcome of the trans cooler/cooling system flush I had done.

Work done: entire cooling system flush with Cummins "Restore", transmission flushed with ATF and refilled with synthetic 40W, trans. slave valve replaced along with airlines, shift tower rebuilt.
$450 labor plus $177 in parts. I supplied the antifreeze, flush and a few of the trans parts. He had to "break" almost all the hose connections and even pulled plugs in the block to get all the junk out. A daunting, time consuming task.

    Overall, I'm satisfied.
