Trans removal on a Volvo white GMC

Just loosen the motor mounts and put a bottle jack under the flywheel housing. Make sure it's a bottle jack that doesn't leak, and dump your suspension air bags before starting.

 

You should be able to separate the trans from the clutch housing, if the clutch housing is what the mounts are bolted to. Some of the old Whites had their own in house made clutch housings for their own frame mounting style. On majority of the Cummins powered ones the Cummins supplied flywheel housing was bolted to the back of engine block like normal and White had their clutch housing bolted to that. The trans bell housing was then bolted to that. They did this in a lot of the models that had engines with slight tilts or different mounted depths or angles in the frame rails then the standard practice. Or they had the transmissions clocked at a tilt for clearance reasons.

 

Bottle Jack works as well as a porta power in spots with adapters.

Take the trans mounts loose. Jack the trans up with the trans jack to take the weight off the mounts. Set the engine on Jack stands on the oil pan rails both left and right toward the rear.

Depending on the chassis mount design you may have to remove the mount brackets from the clutch housing to get the trans out.

Look at how you can put some blocks on each side of the engine in order to keep it from rolling.
