If the price is right, jump on it. Seems like the 2000 up Transcraft are built better. The ones ive seen with problem are mid 90's but mention above, it all depends how you treat it.

I knew a lot of drivers didn't like transcrafts. I'm sure there are drivers that will say the same about every brand made. I agree with the personal preference mentioned above. Like I mentioned earlier my buddy's trailer has been great for the past couple years with zero problems. I've been pulling a couple of cheap 48x102 Utility's and his Transcraft is a lot better than and more solid trailer than the Utility's. The first Utility I pulled started cracking on both left and right side front suspension mounting points. No problems with the second one so far.

I dont like utility's and fontaine looks like them but fancier unless you get a hybrid BUT with the new side rails they put on them, big no no for me. Makes the job more tactical.
good luck on your buy driver.TwinStickPeterbilt and oneperfectrun Thank this. -
I thought Transcrap fixed the rear cracking when they started welding C-channel in a "K" shape between the spread like everyone else.

I'm like the other guy it's personally preference, we have a 2013 Fontaine in the yard I refuse to use, I want all my winches on the drivers side and I want a standard rub rail, I hate the "Well I could put this strap here, but I can't cause of the thing here." Where I want a strap, IS WHERE I WANT A STRAP, not where the next spot is. I f'n hate the winches on 2 different sides to much back and forth.

From my experience you are correct. I have several Eagle II's. 2005 and newer, no problems. They started with the bracing pattern you mentioned in 2003. I had a 2002 model that they retrofitted with the newer bracing. I currently am running a 2013 Eagle II flat.
The difference between an Eagle and an Eagle II is the cross members. The Eagle has aluminum cross members. The Eagle II has steel cross members. Both have the aluminum floor and side rails.oneperfectrun Thanks this. -
I owned a 2000 Transcraft Eagle so here's my two cents.........
Pros,
Nice riding trailer
Good looking trailer
Decent weight
Good electrical system
Cons
Paint was horrible, trailer turned into a rust bucket in no time!
More flexible than I liked in front! Would lean like crazy if weight not even in front of trailer! Worse than any other trailer I have pulled! (I've pulled Reitnouer, Great Dane, Fontaine, Dorsey, etc.)
Cracked at front suspension mount many times.
Goofy rub rail spools that cut down on where you could hook your straps!
So there you have my two cents!
JD
PS- only trailer worse was a Transcraft TL80K! OMG you should see one of those lean whilst getting unloaded!oneperfectrun Thanks this. -
What do you guys think of Dorsey flatbed trailers are they as good as Fontaine, Great Dane, Utility?
I'm trailer shopping.
THANKS
