Do we need to upgrade the CDL from B to A to run transfer truck?

Also, is it worth the investment to upgrade? Central Florida.

If it's a combination vehicle (truck and trailer can separate) with a gross weight in excess of 26,000 pounds, you need an A. Unless, of course, there's some sort of provisions that I dont know about given for those trucks in your state.

Worth it? What's your time worth? Where I'm at, you go to the BMV and take a test. Not 100% sure it's free. But can't be more than $20 I would think.

Thank you for your response. Yes its exceeding 26k so its A then.

I was asking worth it in the sense of investing $$ and returns and market demand compared to dump truck that we drive.

The awser to if you need a CDL A doesn't suggest ANYTHING about what customers will pay or what it costs to provide the service.

Doesn't adding CDL A to a CDL B license require a CDL A vehicle for the road test, in addition to the computer test?

I haven't heard it used outside of one customer and they use the term for a yard switcher, that's why I ask.

I'm curious as well. A transfer dump I've heard of. common in California. Basically a dump truck and pup but the pup box slides into the truck box to dump. I find them fascinating.
