Yes Texas has its own hazmat test. Each state is different that you transfer from.
I didn't transfer hazmat from my original Alaska CDL but they said I could, had 90 days to pass the Texas test.Theyll let you know at the DPS.

You will re-take the HazMat test in TX or any other state when transferring a CDL. All other endorsements transfer with your CDL. I don't recall if you need to get fingerprinted or pay for TSA background check.

    Cmpact Thanks this.

For the love of all things follow the instructions on the TX DPS website or your transfer will be much more frustrating & time consuming. It's a govt office. They don't accept cute online theories or get impressed if you tell them "but everyone online said this would work."

Good news TX is doing away with mandatory personal vehicle inspections to register a car/SUV. I think it ends 12/31/2024.

I was under the impression you needed a valid physical address with utilities. And needed to provide utility billing to address.

    tscottme Thanks this.

That's what my state requires. TX web site will tell OP what TX requires.

But why go to the source for the facts when you can ask the peanut gallery for opinions?
That makes no sense in this upside down inside out social media culture.

    Numb and tscottme Thank this.

Not sure that will work. I used a UPS mail box for years and the last time I renewed my license I had to give them my real home address and had to attest it was my real home address. All these voter and other issues have Texas and many other states cracking down on "parking" your CDL in a state you don't actually reside in.

Everything will transfer over except Hazmat. You will have to do the whole fingerprinting/background check and test again.

He is right. Except for the emissions testing portion of inspections, that isn't ending, if you will be moving to an area that requires emissions testing.

Escapees is well respected in the RV world for those who don't have a permanent address.

I am considering using them as well if I sell my home in NC and become a full time nomad OTR

    Cmpact and Chinatown Thank this.
