I don't know if this has been mentioned yet. Why does everyone automatically assume its the drivers that will have to adjust? The shippers and receivers will have to, if the whole point is to be safe and actually follow the laws as written. Then recievers will have to place orders sooner, and keep track of inventory etc... Better. They will have to allow for that extra time it might take to be legal, while in transit.

No, he's still on a dumb phone. I've tried to teach him to use mine, my son has tried to teach him to use his Ipone, and he really is not grasping it. He's really old school. And honestly he doesn't have the patients to learn it, or the desire. He's never held an interest in technology.

It's my belief that it would take a very intense class for him to learn it. And what O/O has that kind of time? I can't ride in the truck with him and do it all for him either.

I had eclipse logs installed on his toughbook for him, and its stupid simple, but he didn't/wouldn't learn it either. :biggrin_2557:

This will be a solid challenge for anyone like my husband.

Meltom, what you described in your post would create the deer in the headlights look out of him. He doesn't understand menu's, file structure, or anything like that. If he's going to do something on the laptop, I have to create a shortcut for him and it better go right where he expects it to go.

Give him any piece of big equipment and he can run it. He was a tank commander in the Army. But anything computer related, he's just lost. :biggrin_2557:

The Xata (now XRS) phone app can be paired to different trucks . If a driver switches trucks he uses the same smartphone but just selects to inspect a new truck during a pretrip and the phone will list available trucks . The driver then selects the appropriate truck .

I've met a few like that, trained several drivers in their 80's that have never used a Peoplenet or a cell phone before. Painful experience, but I gave my personal number out to a few of them and took calls 24/7 to make it work.
