Thanks for your input shortstuff. I figured at least I can get my feet wet at Transland. My instructor recommended them because he used to work for them and I knew he wouldn't steer me wrong. It wasn't just a recruiting tactict because he would tell me straight up who in this area was good to work for and who not to work for. And if he didn't know about a company I asked about he would say I don't know or I have heard this or whatever. If I am wrong I will endure six months and go with one of the others in this area that gave me a prehire.
I will keep everyone posted.

Like Snorelord said, ask ALOT of questions...Dont worry about the East Coast, Transland doesnt run to many loads out there..If I were you though, I would ask the trainer to request a run out there..better to learn while you have someone helping than by trial and error..Another thing I found VERY helpful...get a little notepad and write all of your trip information down, load numbers, shippers and receivers address..pickup times, delivery times, mileage when you fueled and location(s)..etc, you will find this will aid (and sometimes save your butt) when you get in a hurry and dont do your logs til the end of the day..also helps you keep track of your miles when it comes to payroll...A couple of other things, eat right (or as well as you can), drink plenty of water and shower at least every other day..LOL..good luck and again, tell Marti Hi...

I live in Springfield also, Was also thinking about driving for Transland. They told me I would ahve to be re-trained since I have not driven semi's in the past 6 years. I assume they don't accept pets in their trucks right?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah basically the no pet thing is what's keeping me from going back on the road. I drove semis from 97 to 01 and from then on been working at a local courier company. But it seem's hardly any company wants to deal with pets.

Try CFI/Conway. I almost went with them. They have good rider and pet policies.
-
Thanks. CFI won't take me cause apparently I got some negative reports on my DAC. I guess I should order a copy to see what's on there. Conway pulls doubles right? I pulled doubles once for a few days and didn't like. I might just go with whoever will take me in Springfield sometime. Thanks again.
