Transmission...destroyed in one week???

I had one go out not even a week after it was put in. When I was in California my transmission went out as I was turning to get on I-10. The owner of my truck bought a rebuilt ( I think that's what it's called) transmission from the guys who towed my truck and by the time I got to New Mexico there was no 2nd and 6th gear. I made it just barely all the way to our shop over by Chicago and they took the transmission out and some of the gears were in pieces. Turned out they put a bad transmission in and my owner had already paid for it. He was beyond pi$$ed. He ordered another transmission somewhere else and haven't had any issues. Last time I asked about it he only got some of his money back.

 

AH, ok now i see.

 

It's probably safe to assume that my classmate wasn't the first to ever try that maneuver. But he was the last for a while, at least in that truck, that was the only 9 speed they had at the time.
