Trying to pull the transmission off an old Ford 9000. Can't get the tranny to pull away from the clutch.
Separates about 2" and then draws back in

Release fork catching throwout bearing?
-
What he said, I forget exactly what it was, but the 9000 clutch fork is set up a little different than most trucks, and I ran into the same thing, when I first worked on one. lol
I thought WTF. lol -
Since I know just enough to screw things up, how did you get the tranny off?
-
The lever on the fork shaft is likely hitting the trans. Not allowing the fork to rotate enough to clear the throw out bearing as @spsauerland has stated.
Try removing the lever from the LH cross shaft. This will allow the shaft to rotate farther and come over the bearing.Dino soar, swaan and BoxCarKidd Thank this. -
Thanks
We'll see how tomorrow goes -
Just unbolt the clutch from the flywheel and pull it all at once. Why make life difficult?
