Im pretty sure they arent referring to someone like yourself. I think its the countless persons I keep seeing behind the wheel of US Express that look like they should be driving a small rv or the family grocery getter and barely do that. They have never seen a manual transmission, probably cant drive a 4 wheeler with one it it either and they usually cant back up competently to save their miserable life. Gosh, now anyone can drive a big truck

 

^ Thanks for explanation. I don't think any of those autos would do well off-road. But since I've never drove one I really don't know what the hel I'm talking about.

 

They have made "auto's" for off road.
I don't know if they offer then in the States yet.

It's the much hated Swedish brand that has them.

Yes, I-Shift, M-Drive, Ultra Shift, Autoshift are very reliable. The problems with the X-Y motors was a problem for sometime because of the "lowest common bidder" issue that Eaton Fuller had, this was from about 2002 til about 2004, since then, it hasn't really been a problem. The part all the basher ignore, an Auto-shift is A MANUAL TRANSMISSION CONTROLLED BY A COMPUTER, BUT CAN BE SHIFTED VIA MANUAL BUTTONS. Pretty simple. Ultrashift, I-shift, M-Drive are automatics, controlled solely by a computer, and generally clutchless two peddle systems.

 

Yes, they can be "manually shifted" unless there is an electrical problem, then you're not going anywhere.
