Sure brokers can bid lower, doesn't mean they have the trucks to haul it lower though.

Okay 100% of brokers lie and make everything up all the time. The load I got must have been a glitch in the matrix.
Just because shippers send out load sheets with approved rates brokers bid lower because they all have $1 per mile trucks in their back pocket.
That happens all the time, it's impossible to be any other way.
    You guys are right.

    Are we done now.

So now the broker was paying less may have bid it lower to get it?

I have to say the misconceptions of a few are worth the time wasted on here. Like i said before, cheaper entertainment than a netflix comedy.
    And you get to interact.

    I just told you.
It depends on the lane, day of a week and time of a day - circumstances surrounding the existing market.
Today, I may call for $7000 because I am too comfortable at home. This much would drag me out.

Or better example: Chicago - Boston today 900 miles: $4000 I'd consider, $5000 in a heartbeat.
Boston-Chicago, this late in Afternoon and there is a birthday party tomorrow, I want to attend...$700, instead of going on empty, which I could do too. Transparency or not, the market still dictates the rates.

I entertain you, you entertain me or even better.
    That's how it goes.

And that 7k lbs up 40k isn't too big of factor-a few hundred maybe, if going Richmond VA. Other than that, Not a big deal.
47k would be a game changer.

Ok. Since you won’t give me a normal answer like I’m a shipper asking another business owner for a quote to move a load without involving a broker we can go a different way. Let’s say I accept your unrealistic $7k quote for 900 miles. And I ask you to keep doing one of them a week. You come and haul for a year, 52 loads done for my company and you gross $364k just from my company alone. Then one day you overhear a conversation in the office that’s none of your business and you accidentally hear that our transport budget for the previous year had been $9k a load. Would you no longer be happy with $7.78 a loaded mile?

How can you decide what is and isn’t enough when you wouldn’t even answer realistically when I’m asking what you’d be happy with on a load?

Most of the shippers I deal with don’t send out load lists. They send me an email with what loads are ready. The ones who send out load lists have 30 brokers all competing against each other. Those are most of the load you see on the load boards. That’s the crap no body wants. 85% of the loads I book never see a load board. Because I have carriers who have hauled them before that I call and offer them the load. If your expecting the high dollar loads to be posted to a load board you need to re-evaluate your business model.

Why they can only use brokers. Any rate given is subject to change at any time. Even minutes apart.
