Kroger don't say
$58 for that gallon of milk, that's what I got in it, can't do any better.
People been buying $58 milk, if you don't buy it someone else will.
Anyway a store selling to a consumer is not the same as a broker working out a deal with a truck company.

Do you require transparency with the truck dealer when you purchase a new truck?
Same thing smhJubal Early Times Thanks this. -
Why comparing that to a broker and trucking company working out a deal to provide service to move a load?
When buying a new car you have to go to a dealer, you can't go right to the manufacturer and negotiate a price leaving a dealer out of the deal.
As a trucking company you don't have to use a broker, you can go out and get your own contracts with a shipper.
So why we comparing such vastly different things.NorthEastTrucker and mitmaks Thank this. -

Its like when shopping for a plane ticket, just like you would on the load board, do you demand transparency from the airline to make sure that they arnt "making to much'??
-
If people cried about transparency when spot rates are high they would be a little more credible in my book. But seeing that this conversation only ever comes up every couple years when the rates are low tells me all I need to know.
And I keep asking this question and nobody will answer it, so I’ll ask one more time. If you had your precious transparency when spot rates were at record highs would you agree to move a load for cheaper if it was shown the broker was losing money or would you expect market rates? Because if you expect market rate when things are high then you should accept market rates without crying when the load to truck ratio is all out of whack.Brettj3876, Siinman, GreenPete359 and 3 others Thank this. -
BASICALLY IT COMES DOWN TO THIS - If you are that concerned about what the broker makes, then find a different line of work. The ones who worry about the brokers cut are mostly the ones hauling it cheap because they havnt bothered to educate themselves on how to run a business or negotiate properly.

Does transparency mean in English control? Or is it more synonymous to openness, or sincerity?
For instance, transparency could be also about making sure that the chef's hands were washed properly before preparing the food, regardless of how well it tasted at the dinner table. Is it none of my business to be assured about the chef's good hygiene? -
Isnt that the reason behind the brokers transparency on the rate? You want to see how much they got for the load so either you can see A. how much they will make just out of curiosity, or B. how much you are willing to leave on the table due to your lack of negotiating skills??
Siinman and GreenPete359 Thank this. -
Take money out of the equation and what would you gain with broker transparency? About 99% of the posts saying it should be a thing have all expressed a concern that they’re leaving too much on the table and can’t negotiate properly without knowing what the broker is getting paid.
