You don’t work for the shipper, you work for the broker. That’s where people get confused and feel entitled to know the details of the other, separate business transaction of the broker. If the shipper hired you to move the load then the broker wouldn’t be involved at all.
Siinman and Jubal Early Times Thank this. -
New question…..why is it considered greed if the broker doesn’t share with you what the shipper is paying them to move the load and the trucker feels they’re not getting what they feel they deserve but it wasn’t greed a year or two ago when spot rates were at a record high and loads were moving for well above contract rates? After all the truckers should’ve been more open and fair and willing to move loads closer to contract rates instead of for $4+ a mile.
GreenPete359 and Siinman Thank this. -
I love how people say a person buying a truck at a dealer or person buying milk at Kroger is the exact same thing as a broker and trucking company coming to terms on moving a load.
This is really getting entertaining

When times are slow do brokers still brokers offer decent rates so they won't bankrupt many out here? No.
So then when things pick up there's not enough trucks they have to pay for it.
If there's 100 loads and 1 truck I see no problem with the highest bidder winning.
However if there's 100 trucks and 1 load I do have a problem with someone willing to haul it for roller dog money
-
This is the money that the shipper ultimately pays for getting their product out the door, through the hands of the broker. The money that should, first and foremost, reflect the transportation costs, and the brokers fee should be secondary.
I realize that the money is not deposited to your brokers account even before the carrier gets paid. The discussed problem is about brokers usurping the role of someone who gets to decide what portion of it goes to the party providing the service. -
Then talk to the truckers who are willing to haul the load for pennies. That’s not the brokers fault.
I own a brokerage to make money. I also own a trucking company to make money.
Why would I cut my throat to help you out?haycarter, GreenPete359, Siinman and 5 others Thank this. -
You are correct, it's a cheap freight haulers that are the problem.GreenPete359, Marmon110P and Long FLD Thank this.

I want to see your operating ratio to make sure i don't pay you too much.
Don't like how it works, go get your own customer. Simple, many people do it every day.
You want someone to do all the legwork for you and then decide how much they should make.GreenPete359, Siinman, Marmon110P and 1 other person Thank this. -
So your problem isn’t with the broker then since he only has one load to offer, the issue is there are you and 99 other guys but only one load available. That’s almost like supply and demand or something I think.GreenPete359, Siinman, Marmon110P and 2 others Thank this.
