I'll tell ya, this sucks. Every state is different. One tells me I need permits for each state, another says a temp tag. Even within on state two different people say two different things. TX vehicle registration dept says they have a "one trip" permit for $5 that covers one trip if the vehicle isn't loaded and if it either starts or ends in TX. Then another person tells me I need permeits for each state. I'm liking the two lane at night method better and better every second. It's just FL to TX but I10 is no joke when it comes to DOT
I'm going to ask the guy to put me on as a driver long enough to get it here and offer to pay him a few hundred extra
transporting a new truck

You can get the temp tags, but if you are going to be in the state on a regular basis, it's better to get licensed for that state, vs pulling a temp tag every trip, or every 72 hours, whichever it is. -
I'm not putting it on the road right away untill I get to look it over more thouroughly so I just want to get it here for now. I'l be leasing it to somebody I don't have the desire to reactivate our authority at this point.

Well. I have my 30 day insurance policy, my 15 day "one trip" permit and my airline ticket. I leave in the morning for FL.
Now I wonder if TSA will have a problem with my laptop and my cb in my carry on bag. Bad enough I can't take any tools unless I want to check them and I'm not letting the airline loose my tools. Hmmmmmm.... wonder if I can get my 6 foot whip antenna in my carryon bag??

I made it up to the FL panhandle. the truck runs great, it goes straight down the road. Turns out the front end was just rebushed, new windshields, new drive shafts. it runs out good but it has been an electrical nightmare. the wiring for the lights and some of the dash has been hacked up so many times you just can't figure it out anymore. Lost the turn signals, had to get flashers for them. then lost the brake lights and tail lights-had to find the broken ground wire, no fuel gauge-get a big stick, no speedmeter-drive real slow,

Thanks for the update. I absolutely HATE electrical problems. Most of the time they are so hard to find. I trade out of a pickup once for that reason.
Good luck and I hope you make it. -
Congrats man!!!!
What kind of truck did you get? Link??
