Guadalupe valley and Sequin Tx. area is known for its pecans. The highest best producing trees around this area will get to 100ft tall and the lowest branches will be kept around 20-30 above ground. For most backyard garden growers they keep branches above the head as the trees get tall enough to do so. Work with it slowly take a few rows off at a time as it puts on growth till its tall enough to make it to were you can walk under it. It will yield more nuts as time goes by the farther off the ground you can get it. And they will canopy and make awesome shade trees. Some of the farms around here have 100 year olds still producing very well.
