Well it turned out they are hiring in CA. I had an interview at the Hayward Terminal today.

It lasted 3 hours! I generally liked what I heard and I didn't feel like I was being lied to at least no more than usual in the trucking industry ;). The pay is really good. Over 90k annually could be possible if the numbers they gave me were accurate and they can keep me busy. I would say 75-80k is a safer number to bet on though.

They didn't have any trucks to road test me with today so they said they will call me back tomorrow for a road test and I assume they will make their decision after that? I gotta get back on the road with my current job Friday at the latest so it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Looks like a great company so far. Thanks for the heads up again Ethos.

It's a bit early for that. I didn't get a phone call for the road test today. Regardless, I'm going to be driving by the yard tomorrow on the way back to my current job to pick up my truck from the yard. I'll give them a call in the morning to see what the situation is.

Well I didn't make this cut this time around. The interview went very well and lasted 3 hours like i said earlier. Towards the end they were even asking me when i could start. They were supposed to call me yesterday or today, but never did so i called them today and i was made aware that they were looking at other candidates right now. It was disappointing, but a blessing in disguise to a certain extent. The job ended up being a local job running around the SF bay area and LA. I got into trucking to get away from the SF bay area. I absolutely hate it here in CA. If the job was advertised as what is was rather than a long haul position I wouldn't even have applied, but once i found out what it was paying I was willing to trade happiness for a 30k per year raise LOL.

During the interview I heard about a very interesting option though running the "system". It sounded like a less specialized version of the Elite Fleet where you just service dedicated accounts anywhere and everywhere. That would be much more my kind of job.

Do any of you guys have any experience running the "system".

System drivers have different experiences based on what terminal they run out of. Elite doesn't just service dedicated accounts we go where needed and run what needs to be covered. Elite is designed to be as flexible as possible. Coming out of the house I loaded in Freeport, TX and delivered in Ontario. Loaded in Toronto and now headed to Reno and from there I will wash in Hayward. None of those were dedicated accounts, just runs that needed to be covered.

Not a bad run, better than getting stuck in the northeast.
