(2009 thermoking tripac with espar bunk heater)
Where is THE REAL room temperature sensor? are there 2 sensors in different locations running at the same time that interfere with each other??
the room temperature sensor for these older Thermo king units is supposed to be the shiny rod-looking thing sticking out of the bottom of my control unit. My Thermo king unit seems to work OK in the summer, spring, fall, and in winter’s warmer days..... but when it gets super cold, my bunk heater comes on full blast no matter how warm it is inside the truck. In other words, toasty warm in the truck but the heater is still blasting and then I get WAY too warm. (temp set to 50, which is the minimum setting). It’s almost like during these colder days the room temperature sensor is located outside the truck where it’s actually cold.
I bought a brand new temp sensor and replaced the old one, and it makes no difference… I still get blasted with heat. I even took this supposed temp sensor and ran it down in front of the heater to warm it up (the tip) and it does NOT make the heater turn down! Not only am I way too warm but also I’m afraid I’m gonna burn out my heater fan and my heater fuel pump
any ideas??

Well most likely its located in display box. If its not there then follow the cable that goes out from display's board. On the board you will see a mark saying temp sensor. I am talking about sensor that is related to cooling a/c mode.
The heaters sensor can be a. In unit, b. In heater's control box. If your heater control box has a display showing degrees than the sensor is located in there.pbrstreetgang Thanks this. -
OK I was told today the temperature of the air going into the intake on the heater will help determine when it decides to stop blasting hot air. My heater is located under the bunk where it is always very cold even when the rest of the truck interior is warm… So I need to run tubing from the intake of the heater to the main part of my truck interior where it is warmer, if that makes sense. So it’s not just the control panel Temp sensor in other words… Anyway thanks

Quick and dirty for that would be aluminum dryer vent hose and some foil tape.

Be careful here, don't carbon monoxide yourself with jerry rigging it. Just drop by a TK location and ask.
Mine has the dial, not digital. Sometimes I have to turn it almost down to cold (blue) to get the furnace to cycle down some. Other times I've got to put it to 3/4 in the red to get it warm in here. They are funny sometimes.pbrstreetgang and 77fib77 Thank this. -
Cutting a vent to the where bunk heater lives, so you get done circulation into the space under the bed? Or it's going to spring in three weeks....pbrstreetgang Thanks this. -
