There was a time when that was true. Fact is, I still think Wis. does not require a CDL for farm trucks. I drove some pretty shabby farm trucks, but usually not too far. That was the thing, you could only operate it within a certain radius of the farm, I think. Regardless, a dangerous situation.
Someone a while back was interested in grain hauling, well, here you go. This truck ROUTINELY hauled 100K, or more just to make a buck, I bet. It's incredibly incompetent that someone wouldn't notice that, it didn't just happen. That happened to me with my Western Star. It had the White "Reyco" suspension, and the heavy RR containers didn't help. One night after I got home, I noticed the truck wasn't sitting right. Inspection revealed a pretty good crack right behind the sleeper, and I crossed a scale like that. I had the frame "sleeved" with a smaller channel, but cracked again, and had the whole back frame chopped off and a Pete Airleaf installed, with much better results. I still think this truck hauled some ball busters to do that to a frame.

Seems sorghum should do very well in the dry Texas heat . I dont know what kind of demand or prices it brings or protein content compared to corn.

I grew up in a small town until 60 years ago with my father being an ag mechanic/welder and we grew up expecting dad working 16 to 20 hours for a month and a half in the spring and fall. His moving to tractor/trailer mechanic in 1966 was wonderful as he was "only" working more than 8 hours on weekends part-time for a leased operator as needed.

I saw that truck as I left the bean plant in council bluffs with a trooper behind it , he only had about a half mile to go and he would have made it.
Came by again later and trooper still there with a wrecker lifting the trailer off the tractor .
