So are you guys down there just stuck with 5 axles and 80k lbs then? Do they even allow tridems or super b units?

They grow it down here at the coast, along with cotton. But it's hot and humid here. I don't know how much water sorghum needs, but surely it doesn't need as much as corn.

Last I knew and my info is dated in iowa
There is a hodgepodge of different axle/weight/length combinations that can be run around here and I don't know enough about it to say .

Yep around here their trucks will sit all year but once that harvester fires up they expect the trucks to start right up and haul 100k non stop

Depends on the state and some states it depends on the commodity. You can go heavy in Iowa if you have the axles, you just can’t run the interstate. The max in NE is 95k on 7 axles and you can run the interstate with a permit. Kansas you can run 90k on 6 axles with livestock, milk, and ag commodities but you’re supposed to stay off the interstate. I’m not sure how Minnesota works but see guys up there with extra axles. South Dakota is whatever you can bridge with however many axles you have and you can permit to run the interstate. Colorado is 97k max but no interstate and I think you have a buy a permit.

Basically you set your truck up for where you will be going most of the time. When I had my hopper I ran feed ingredients South so it wouldn’t do me any good to have 7 axles because going south into Kansas I was maxed out at 90k on 6. The guys who never leave South Dakota are running doubles with 13 axles. Just depends on where you live and where you go.
