If it doesn't go in when clutching then dont clutch its more important to be in a gear than double clutch. Just don't try to jam it in the wrong gear, if it doesn't go in right away just rev up and down a little.

The more I hear about double clutching the more glad I am I don't know how to do it. I would want an automatic before putting up with all that

Use just enough clutch to get in or out of gear. When in doubt, until you have this skill mastered, use less clutch and see if things improve.QuietStorm Thanks this. -

Here's the thing, if you are in a manual transmission, take your palm off the shifter. You should only use your fingertips to make shifts. Once you get THIS key concept in your head, the rest will be easy.

Push the clutch in too far and you will burn out the clutch brake. You will know that it is burned out when you can't get it into a gear, without grinding, when the light turns green.

I have driven more than few customer trucks with abused clutches. Do NOT push in the clutch more than 1/4 the play. If you do that you degrade the ability of the clutch brake to respond correctly.tscottme Thanks this.
