Yeah hey, I'm curious to find out what you ended up getting and if it will or is
    working out for you.

If you get a 12.7 detroit with a 10spd, it will more than likely have 1500lb or 1600lbs of torque. Anyone else think a 10psdw a 3.70 or 3.73 ratio is too high of a rear?

I think 3.70 or 3.73 is very common in a day cab. He said he was going to pull 40,000 lbs. of LP. in a tank. I think the specs. sound fine. I would like to hear what others think. I would think those ratios would be better than 3,55 or 3.58. I am going to say those specs sound good in my opinion.

I am partial to the Volvo. I looked at one 64T300 daycab ISX 450 (heard the ISX isn't as bad as I once thought) 10 spd 3.70 air ride susp, cab and seats. ISX is a heavy motor but they seem to be popular. Also looked at a Int 9200i eagle daycab with C12 Cat 430 hp 10 sp 3.70. C12 is a lighter motor not sure of the fuel mileage or performance. Last one is a Freightliner columbia, this one has a 14.0 Detroit 455 hp 10 sp 3.70. AMPwayne said he likes his 14.0 Det. Volvo has the best cab and ride I think.

One thing you can do when looking for a used truck is find a daycab that is already setup to haul a tanker. Let the big companies do your home work for you because they usually know what works best. We sold our trucks (daycab with a tank) seperate from our trailers because we sold the trucks at 5 years and the trailers at 8 years. We didn't use mileage because all of our work was local. I did see one of our trucks for sale thou and it was sold for $50,000 so the company did get their money out of the truck. However, it was a special spec'd truck with a drop axle so you could load 5000 gallons up on the truck.

    LT450 Thanks this.

You must be talking about a straight truck with a tank? I'm looking for a daycab tractor to pull a tank trailer. I suppose I could check with the local gas tankers and see what specs they are set up with.

I would suggest that you get a truck with a small sleeper. For naps, being held up at shippers, receivers or for weather. They also give a little more seat adjusting room.
