Answers appreciated! That's what I figured. I guess my main question in my mind is if the ELD would allow multiple logins. But there again, I guess it would have to for things like team drivers, and for guys who share a truck (like sharing a day cab).

I don't really kick the dog. And even if I did, my foot would just bounce off, she's nothing but rubber on the inside. She's like the roach on W.A.L.L.E. If she got ran over, she'd just spring back up and carry on. She's a tough little mongrel.

Still on duty and over hours....

We used to have guys on Saturdays coming back from Long Island run out around 20 - 30 miles out and the 'college kid' got to drive a mechanic [pre-CDL] out and bring the over hours driver back while the mechanic brought the truck back. being the 'college kid' it beat washing trucks and changing flat tires, LOL

On duty yes, over hours no. He would be on duty, not driving (line 4) and there are no restrictions for on duty time. He can work 100 hours straight and be legal, just can't drive a cmv until the proper rest.

Some carriers still prohibited the driver from driving any company vehicle once the hit 70...and it was abused on occasion too...maybe it was their insurance companies thing.

Isn't this how team driving works? Driver A logs into off duty or whatever. Driver B logs in and pulls their shift at the wheel? I've been studying constantly for my CDL. Am I wrong on this situation? Seems like a no brainer.

Would he really even be on duty?. He wasn't performing a paid job function, simply driving back to the yard to get his car. I'm not sure there was a company stipulation that only on duty drivers could operate company vehicles.

The way we got paid at that company was by the time on elogs, therefore noone could ever be paid more than 70hrs in one week.

I know 100% for sure that when I use the company car to go get some food I've never then felt the need to go back to my truck and edit the log in order to add a bunch of on duty not driving time.

I mean, that would be kinda dumb to even consider doing.

My description was during a consent order so the safety department wouldn't accept a local driver from XXXXX, PA being relieved of duty in YYYYY, NJ yet punching out at his home terminal....
