that you should be able to do on your own..
how long have you been in the trucking industry??
how much do you really know about what your getting into??

im just curious since i plan on doing my own company in the future but right now fuel is way to high for me to afford!!

good luck out there and be safe.

I still don't think it can be done.. but I'm glad you are trying. Heck, open an office in Denver and I might be willing to drive for you!

As for paperwork and the like - The internet is your friend. If you can't find what you need at JJ Keller, just Google. Odds are darn good that something is out there that you can use - or modify for use.

Let's see.. aside from this board, you should bookmark:

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/
    the JJ Keller site
state rules where you plan to operate
    USC title 49 and 18
State DOT where you plan to operate

I'm sure there are dozens, if not hundreds of other points of contact you'll need..

I also suggest electronic logging (such as DDL). It will save your driver and your logging department (you) time - and time is one thing you can't buy enough of.

I saw the owner of Swift on TV today testifying to Congress that little truck companies are doomed with rising gas prices or consumer products are going to have to soar. He also expressed the high turn over rate in many companies. Starting a small trucking business or Owner Op looks grim right now.
