I have to say that I've been lucky with not being lied to. I worked for CRST for a year and did 2 different dedicated accounts. They never did me wrong and were up front about everything. Always paid me right and on time. The people that had a problem with them were the ones who ran expedited. So I'm sure there is some truth to being lied to.

Hmmmmmmm...Poorly trained, ill-prepared new drivers coming from questionable driving schools, pay that generally doesn't keep up with the times, management at some companies that would throw their own mothers under the bus, enforcement agencies that heap regulation upon regulation on the drivers, while companies get away with forcing drivers to operate unsafe equipment and not have proper rest, dishonesty from company recruiters, and total disrespect from the shippers & receivers, law enforcement, and the general public. That basically it in a nutshell

When I grew up you drove what they had. (We will fix that when you get back) They would fix flats, change grommets in glad hands. Hand you a new headlight & a screw driver. Always with the warning, don't shut that truck down it may not start. People don't know the dark side of trucking. I walked into the Women's side of the bathroom in Amarillo because I didn't know where I was. 3 log books. Never can go fast enough, never make enough loads, to make dispatch happy. Speed pills work for awhile. Jolt cola, coffee won't work after a while. I laugh at hos, it's a joke. Qualcomm can be messed with. Truck computers can be messed with. My pay check is 1300 miles short of what I drove. I don't raise Kane, you wanted to know why the turn over. The only people that lie more than trucking companies are on Capitol Hill. I can prove I am in Montana, I'm really home. Texas that is.

I don't ever recommend what to do, to anyone. What I do, is what I do. Your 10 years short of creative logging. The Ladies in safety are far from stupid. I have never seen an "elog" Only Sat in my truck is Sirrius XM.
Only time I ever stuck my foot in my mouth is when I said I do. :biggrin_2559:

depending on the company and the way the have the elog setup, there's little room for lying on that babysitter ... unless you somehow are in the sleeper when ure backing into a dock, but even then the robot is recording your movement. welcome to the world of 1984

I'm at 6 months with van/reefer OTR and this is the #1 reason I will take the first local job I can find. Probably semi dump or rolloff.

Could be wait times. I think it's a combination of things. Here's what I can think of off the top of my head. Lies, wait times, not being paid for waiting, deprived of sleep, high stress, unhealthy lifestyle, not being paid enough or not getting enough miles, bad equipment, having to do a lot of locals, all the paper work, law enforcement, new rules and regulations all the time, trucks to slow, don't want to run teams, co-driver is lazy or an ahole, can't find a place to park in a truck stop, traffic, rude dispatchers, road construction, and the list goes on and on. What I hear most is the company lied or they were sitting to much. I think a lot of drivers are just promised the world by the recruiters and maybe only half is delivered. They paint this picture of a trucking job as being freedom, great pay, good benefits, etc. There is a whole other side they don't tell you. There are good days and bad days, good runs and bad runs, good people and bad people. Just the nature of the job. There are definitely better companies though and ltl comes to mind.
