Mercedes engines really limit where you can go for service. They are very odd-ball, and most jobber shops don't have experience with them. We are an International dealer including Cummins and Cat, but when it comes to a Mercedes engine we will change your oil and is about it.

From what Ive read and heard the C-15 is better than the C-16 and soon as I can afford it I will be putting in a C-15 before this one drops it lunch again.
Had 5 years of hell with it cant wait to see the back of it!!!

Haven't heard any good things about the MBE engines, I have a customer with one that cracked the cylinder block at 300000km and MB wouldn't warrant it.
I think the early C15s are the best for power and reliablilty but there are more fuel efficient engines out there.
Hate to say it Shaun but I think the problem with you C16 was the people doing the work on it, had they fixed it right the first time you wouldn't have had so many problems.C16KIWI Thanks this. -
Mercades motors have poorly designed oil and fuel filters. They are a cartridge type filters. They are messy to change.

So the 6nz is better than the c16???? We have one great fuel mileage pull's great no major problem's so far regular wear and tear on engine components.
-
Just from what Ive seen the 6NZ lasts a lot longer, better MPGs and less problems than the C-16.
I also think Jas is right it should have been fixed properly the first time but I keep getting the same response from CAT "its within spec" A@#*holes
