So I called the broker and told them I couldn't do it due to truck being down. I'd be just as much in the hole if I rent a truck and I was going to take next week off anyways so might as well just relax and calm my nerves. Until next time (hopefully it will be good O/O news) enjoy yourselves and that extra time to check some miscellaneous items will save you down the road.
I'd like to add in here that this was most likely caused by a ujoint failure. if you had gotten under your truck recently you would have caught it before it became such an expensive repair. the best lesson in trucking I ever learned was to get under my truck with a grease gun every weekend. while greasing it, grab that you're and yank foot all you are worth to see if there is any play in those ujoints. check your brakes to make sure they are adjusted right, grab your tie rods, etc. getting your hands dirty once a week saves a boat load of money.
Yeah I've been (up until last 2 weeks) greasing every 7500 miles. Just kept giving an excuse to not grease it and kicking myself now. I'll admit that laziness got the best of me and my last few weeks of running hard and really working now means squat. Now I have plenty of time to sit around and realize my costly mistake.
I'll repeat something my father told me once when I burnt up the rear end on my first truck and was beating myself up over it. "any bone headed mistake you've made, I've done the same but mine usually had a couple more zeros" ya learn from those screw ups, write the check and move forward. looking back doesn't do anything but give ya grey hair and high blood pressure.
@cetane+ the truck is in Stratford. Although I see your from Albany, you do flatbed work? I'm currently in Binghamton enjoying some home time.
Yes, so I know what its like to be stuck with a down truck. I was just seeing if you were around here, so maybe I could get your drive shaft to Mooradian Hydraulics in Schodack to get t fixed faster. I could run around with a pick up and get it expedited for you.
