Yeah that is always the joke, 53 foot truck, 48 foot trailer.
-
i haved strected my frame out 63''. cost is going to run you 5000.00 to 7000.00 if you have a good shop do it. the price varies depending on what you have done. there is a good shop in ft wyne in, can't rember there there name. kw in ft wyne could give to you. kw in ind. in also does good work. look around were you live for someone that putts grain or gravle box on trucks they do a lot of them . don't do it just for the ride as when you strecth the frame you may end up they a werse ride as the frame becomes stiffer.

I'll sell you a 359 fairly cheap. it's a running driving truck I run everyday.
-
medicine man... is that a long hood 359 that you wana sell?
-
no, it's a standard hood. but right now I'm just mad enough to make you a KILLER deal
needs trans work and if I can't limp it home from odessa tx it may need to be picked up (and I wouldn't mind a ride either) -
NO ONE FAINT! Yes, I did say Century Class; and just so everyone is laughing at the same joke, that is a Freightliner. I just purchased this unit with rebuilt 12.7/ 470 tuned to 485. This truck has plenty of guts and is a heavy hauler. I, too, am interested in stretching my frame. I am rather sure the frames on 'Shakers' and abit thinner than Petes, KW's and the like. I am interested in doing it just because everyone is stretching Petes and KW's and the like. The project is set to commence this winter, but looking at all of the posts i want to make sure that i get quality work done on him so he will be here awhile. I used to do body work and paint so that is no problem. I am not going to go crazy with 300" or anything like that, just the length of one axle( rear will be the new front). I can garauntee there are not too many of those rolling around.

ole wise rancher once told me
"just becuase you can, don't mean you should" -
I would agree with that about some things, but why not? Is it because it is not a Pete or KW? Shakers do the same work and earn the same pay. That is the main reason why I will not buy a Pete or KW, because of the prevailing attitude about most people that own them. Don't get me wrong Pete's are beautiful, but they are getting to be like opinions, everybody has one. It seems that there are as many Petes as Shakers. That thrill of seeing a Pete with hunderds of lights and tons of chrome is common place now. Most of the truck shows it's Pete, Pete, Pete. Sometimes change is refreshing. Don't you think?

i've seen some hack jobs on frames, and welded a few back up (farmers always need more frame for hopper box's don't cha know)
if you got the time and money, have at it
but with a shaker, dont expect it to make more money at sale time
besides shakers have a hard time looking kool, a few have done it, but not most
and i agree about everyone having a pete, but theres a reason 20+ yr old 359's are still running
when was the last time you saw an old shaker?.....ok one that wasnt torn up and drove by a no habla?
for the record i DO drive a KW......(sometimes)
im mainly just here to harrass ya............LOL
