What to buy truckers tablet,or tablet to run co-pilot? I have Note II phone but don't want to run co-pilot on it so what would be the best 7" tablet or am I better off with the Truckers Tablet which I have never heard of before today. Diesel Boss would like to hear your opinion. Thanks

My concern with the trucker's tablet would be that they haven't been time tested as they are a new product. I would want to know who makes the tablet, what gps software are they running and what version of the operating system are they running. I have checked out the web site and none of this information is on it. My own choice at this time would be to get a good quality brand name tablet running the latest operating system and putting CoPilot on it and getting a Ram mount for it such as Ram B-101-C-UN9U. The combined cost would be more than the Truckers Tablet and on par with a standalone system but would be more versatile as you can use the tablet for more than just a gps unit eg. log program from Big Roads or watch videos, music etc. therefore would prob go to 10" tablet. My opinion anyway.

I run co-pilot on a little 11.6 inch HP note book. It was 350, plus software, USB GPS receiver. Its a pretty awesome setup!
A 10" screen would be very good too. -
Galaxy Tab 3 from sprint $50 with a 2 yr data plan. Buy a Galaxy S5, and you get a Tab 3 for free. Buy the Copilot App, download the Autoguard Black Box app, and you have a very good truck GPS, and a high end data recorder with dash cam, for less then the cost of a Truckers Tablet 2, a Rand Mcnally, or a Garmin Dezl, and still have to buy a dash cam.
bergy, Skydivedavec and camisdad77 Thank this. -
The beauty of a tablet is that it's lightweight and has a small footprint and with a Ram mount can be mounted almost anywhere. http://www.rammount.com/Products/XGriptradeMounts/XGriptrade10TabletMounts/tabid/4691/Default.aspx

I have an Asus 10" and it runs Android 4.2.1, it works quite well, haven't downloaded CoPilot yet but have Ram mount coming, still using my TND 720 until the USB port packs it in altogether as right now will still charge battery but can't communicate with pc for updates, seems like usb ports pack it in after about year and half of use, on my second one right now so will go CoPilot soon.
Just make sure you get one with lots of internal memory as I don't believe you can store the CoPilot maps on the external memory card and they take up close to 2 gigs and with all the other apps and prog on the tablet min 16 gig memory would b advised.Last edited: May 25, 2014

+1 for Autoguard. Been using it daily for about 3 months and love the app. Have actually mentioned it here a couple of times.

Would prob not be practical for 10" tablet as you would need to mount it close to windshield and would interfere with vision and would be illegal in some states. Best for cell phone in cradle or mount and not interfering with vision.bergy Thanks this.
