Hey guys, I was wondering what the average cost of insurance for a truck is. I know it depends on a lot of details, but I want to know the low-high end, and also the average. (For your everyday handy dandy truck) Thanks guys

It will depend on where you live, where you run, your safety record (if you have your own authority), MVR, work history, length of time in the business. I have talked with people who have been quoted rates as high as $36,000/year for one truck. I pay around $4,000/yr per truck, just for the cargo and liability. Average should fall somewhere around $6,000-8,200/year.

No, I mean 2.5% to 5% of the stated value. In other words, if you state that the value of your truck is $20,000 then your premium will probably be from 0.025 - 0.05 of that figure. ($20,000 x .025 = $500.00) ($20,000 x 0.05 = $1,000.00). So your premium to cover your truck should range from $500-1,000.

2004 COLUMBIA, 1,000,000,000 liability, 100,000 cargo, 30,000 physical damage with towing and with 1,000 deductible = $532.00 a month.

If you lease to a carrier then the only insurance you have to carry is bobtail which isnt that much..
