I've gotten to the point where I just want to get it so it will be over with. Honestly I'm amazed that I haven't caught it yet being on the road. Maybe I have and didn't know it. Perhaps you should get the antibody test to see if you've had it already.

I booked a backhaul with 50 mile deadhead: 584 miles for $1420 that's good - a while back Carlisle Pa to Chicago market wasn't paying much above $1000. it'll put me back into good Chicago market on Friday. Realistically, another $4k revenue over the weekend can be obtained.
Staying home or reload and shoot and hit another screamer? On one hand I must keep in mind my 'overheating' which resulted in my October ER visit, on another I did not forget what @stayinback once told me..."don't show off like that because your dry van 4 dol a mile may turn into 1.5 a mile with a blink of an eye!" I remember back in 2017 being excited about hauling Chicago - Birmingham AL for $2400 and bragging about it. These rate swings do happen very sudden. There may not even be any interim warning period. I am sure I will haul $1.5 again sooner or later. That's inevitable with all these new trucks gone from dealers lots.
Hmmm...book or not to book? That is the question.

I had a guy I've known since 2013, company driver, call me yesterday. He's never been interested in becoming an owner operator.

Looks like he caught the gold rush fever and is looking to jump in now. Had a lot questions.

I am curious how old timers remember such gold rushes. Maybe 20-30 years ago the notion of the gold rush in trucking did not even exist.
People held steadier jobs and there was less interest in trucking as a career....lol

Have you seen the movie, "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs" on NETFLIX?

The Gold Miner scene is awesome in that movie, and very telling of human nature.

It was hard not to love him. Especially after he spared that owl her egg. Looked and sounded very realistic too that miner.
