Truck purchase question - paying off their lein?

I don't think my car ever had a title till it was paid for. But it was a new purchase.

It does say corrected title. But lien holder info is totally blank.

I also had to call the credit union as 30 days went by and no one knew the loan was paid for. Got the title 2 weeks later.

Thanks for everyone’s input. So far I’m undecided I’m leaning towards purchasing it from a dealer.

doesn’t matter if the check clears, they have 30 days to take it back

direct transfer or cash only

Do two transfers. Speak to their bank and do one transfer to them in the amount needed to release the lien, wire the balance to the owner.

Every state is different, but South Dakota no longer generates a paper title until the lien is released.
