Never had a real threat thankfully, but I'm still new. I keep my doors locked at the truck stops. As others have said, just use some common sense.

Although not at a truck-stop I DID have a real lapse of common sense that probably would have turned out bad, I just got lucky. I was up in Michigan getting a trailer unloaded in an old abandoned factory district. A lot of neat old buildings. I like to take pictures so I grabbed my digital camera and was walking up and down the street taking pictures. The area was desolate other than the place I had my rig. As I'm standing out there, the thought hits me that this probably isn't the best Idea I'd ever had. Just as I'm thinking that a carload of guys drives by me real slow. One of those jacked up Chevy malibu's with the 26 inch chrome wheels. The car is about 1/8th mile past me and makes a k-turn in the road and is coming back towards me. Lucky for me I was only about 40 feet from the guard shack and gate where my truck was. I jogged back over and popped through the gate. The guard came out (not knowing what was happening) and asked me If I got some good shots. The guy driving the car slowed down to almost a stop outside, nodded his head at me and winked. Then drove off. If I was farther down the street I don't think it would have ended so well.

lord knows the criminal justice system does NOTHING to punish thieves......that guy stealing the fuel would have probably gotten nothing more than probation, thats not going to deter him from doing it again.......having his ### stomped definitely will

i wish the law would look the other way on things like this
