Hey AD. Weather you have got a new truck yet or not; remember...... There's MACK and there is the rest.

Volvo engine may work with immobilizer. Volvo use phillips crypto keys. not so easy to disable. Cummins immobilizer may easily be disabled with insite software.

I'm surprized immo is rare in the USA. But it is widly used on all EU trucks.

Nearly all our trucks have GPRS tracking.
Cross border ones have pure satellite in addition.
We can shut them down from a laptop or cell phone with a code.
Problem is that this works with the thug type thief.
With professional thief's they know their way around the systems and you will find the tracking system laying on the road side.
They have to work fast though as any diversion from planed route triggers an alarm.
What we do is put in a couple of old decoy systems and hide the real system in an unusual place.
The thief's know this but don't know when they have found the correct one.
    Not worth the risk.
All I find is necessary is to make your equipment harder/riskier to steal then those round you.
They tend to leave you alone then.

And THAT is exactly the correct prescription to theft prevention. Whether it is your truck and load, your personal vehicle, or your home or business.

Something else that could be a good deterent: get an air brake lock. And use it.
