As far as the oasis parking in chicago, you know, or at least you should know, sometimes, no matter how good you are at planning, you can get stuck at those shippers or consignees a lot longer than you expected, then run out of hours and only have the choice of parking there, if you are to keep it legal. It seems to me, if you only want to stop and get something to eat or such, if you have the time, then you should keep going to you reach the wi. line or wherever to get something. I've been to a lot of places that I would have liked to have stopped at , but couldn't. I didn't cry about it though. Chill

Interestingly, the Oasis has a 2 hour limit for car parking. They should make it 2 hours for all. Those places are not campgrounds...

You ate a prick? Seriously......Just funning with you driver...I know what you meant.....I think?

Yes they do, But, if you're out of time, and you get in a wreck, even if it's not your fault, the first thing the dot is gonna do is check your logs, and if you're over, you've had it. I don't want to have to stay there at the Oasis, but I did have to one time. And It wasn't from bad planning, it was from the consignee not being on time. And there isn't that much room at those places anyway, like the DES PLAINES OASIS, so get on down the road.

Whine and cry about it.
The car time limit is during the day to keep people from free parking and commutiing. They say nothing about nights.
What about the service plazas on the Ohio Turnpike?
What about a rest area?
Next thing you will complain about is that you need a reserved spot.Last edited: Jun 23, 2012

The service plazas on the Ohio pike (especially those nice new ones) have MUCH bigger parking lots. Apples and Oranges. They even have free showers for the drivers.

Not any difference in the purpose.

I had the same exact thing happen at the same exact place. Only it was friggen snowing and I had to walk up to that store. Was probably the same guy.
I understand what the poster is saying here especially at this place, I had no clue it was pay parking, i rolled in late and just got lucky that someone had just left and opened up a spot. It was being woken up after falling asleep buy this not so pleasant guy, and being threatened to have your truck towed if you dont give his 10 bux right then.
I have no problem paying for a spot and in areas like that where the options are limited then you should expect to pay. But Make the signage better.
Oh and to someone elses question, I did have the breakfast and it was good.
It's not a bad place and now I know that if I'm likely to run out of hours delivering up the street have 10 bux on me. -
I wouldn't have left my truck. How do you know it isn't somebody wanting you OUT of the truck so that he has a few minutes to help himself to whatever you might have in the truck? Sorry, but it ain't gonna happen....ESPECIALLY after I've already turned in for the night. I'm not wandering all over creation on foot in the middle of the night trying to find an ATM, either. If they wanted payment, they should have collected it on my way in...or they can get it on the way out. Payment will NOT be made in the middle of the night. Period.delta5 Thanks this.

cmon---really?==you pull into a restaraunt and then get pissy when they want 10 bucks for an overnight???-----its not a truckstop--its a business where they need the room for paying customers --you can go to a trucks top if you want free parking--wellll unless it is one that charges
