Ports To Plains in Lamar, CO. They’ve a regular restaurant and an Indian menu. The Indian food is very good. Yes, the place is an absolute garbage bin, but there’s always parking.
striker and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Any truck stop with a Subway is the best. I love to queue up with the other fine diners to pay 20 bucks for 25 cents worth of rotten lunch meat and maybe 20 cents worth of out dated produce. And the smell walking in! Gawd dang I love Subway!!!
The_vett, broke down plumber, Flat Earth Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Seems to be a 'thing' with minority-owned roadside businesses. The best Mexican food (outside of Mexico, that is) was from a rather dirty restaurant in Colorado, and the best catfish was from a black-owned truckstop along I10 in LA.
Still, I'd rather have a fair-to-middling chicken tikka masala than a roller dog for lunch any day, no matter how 'nice' the place looks...HiramKingWilliams and kylefitzy Thank this. -
Those Naf Naf’s at Love’s are awesome.

Found this fine eatery in New Braunfels, Texas today off I-35. The Happy Dragon is like a Panda Express, but with better food and selection.
I ordered the orange chicken, pork roll, fried rice, General Tso's flavor chicken wings, and cheese rangoons. The fried rice was "Tso Tso", but the other food was top notch. Most memorable were the cheese rangoons which came with the best sweet and sour sauce I've ever come across. Perfect taste and the sauce was thick.
The entrance was a trick to negotiate and I couldn't help running over a curb. I couldn't get in the truck entrance coming from the south.
Pro tip: you can park a truck near any Petsmart since Petsmart receives from 53' trailers.HiramKingWilliams, Lav-25, The_vett and 1 other person Thank this. -

I parked right there and no one bothered me.
Doubt anyone knows my company does not deliver to Petsmart. There was another truck parked there before I arrived.Last edited: Sep 10, 2024

Hmm ... does anybody still bring / buy there own food / drinks before they head out any more ??? When i did otr , getting a hot meal was more a treat than anything else , normally had the fridge stocked , and canned stuff to eat , but i also had a microwave too , so it wasn't such a big deal . Though when i did get a sit down meal it was at some place with in walking distance , nothing really over a mile.
The two that i know that had good food to either sit / eat or take out was Lisa's in Moriarty or that one across the main drag from the little truck stop in Needles.Last edited: Sep 10, 2024
