Bosselman's prices are a rip off too. $4 for a little single serve potato salad. $5 for a PB&J sandwich. That's just a couple examples. The only thing I buy there is fuel.

Trekker, there are very few that are clean. You find parking lots trashed by lazy truckers. The pavement smells like urine. But you can make do.

    mtnMoma and Trekker Thank this.

Except the aforementioned Mom & Pop Truck Stops, (good food) I hate parking at large truck stop chains (where I only fuel up). Truck stops need to make money, but price gouging because I'm 1000 miles from home will keep me from stopping. (buy from Wal-mart) I look for alternative places like: rest/parking areas, large shopping center, & Wal-mart. I keep my cooler stocked, cook in my truck (unless I can find good food) and keep a camping toilet for when I find myself out in the middle of nowhere. You should also pick up a copy of Next-Exit [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Next-Exit-2011-Interstate-Directory/dp/0971407398/[/ame] & Truckers-Friend [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Truckers-Friend-National-Truck-Directory/dp/1890141437/[/ame] Next exit gives you a list of services, stores, restaurants by state, expressway, & exit number. The Truck Stop Directory will help you find a truck stops on the back roads (US/State Routes) of America. The info will help you trip plan. (in 8 hours I will be here, where will i park when i get here?)

    Good Luck:biggrin_25514:

My phone does not support that app. Also a must have. I have a computer based gps with a directory list of places as well. I find myself using them all. No one guide, app, gps, or network search has every where you can stop. I love finding non truck stop places to eat. Few weeks back I found a china buffet w/frog legs (parked behind shopping center) not listed anywhere. :biggrin_255:

Sorry no, I live in the Inwood on Long Island, one of the 5 towns: Inwood, Lawrence, Cedarhurst, Woodmere, Hewlett. On the south shore near Valley Stream. I sometimes get confused with your Inwood. I used to live in Manhattan on the upper east side. Went bike riding through your Inwood several times, nice neighborhood!

I use an iPhone. It has 6 apps for truck stops, including that popular one available on the androids.

You will find that they are plentiful in some areas and far between in others...

It is best to have some sort of food/water supply for when you get stuck out of hours far away from one.
