You should have a laptop now and be keeping notes. You need to set up your files for everything that pertains to trucking. From driving to fixing the truck. Along with those notes you should keep a record of your travels. In that file you can list the better truck stops you've stayed at and the pro and cons of each place.

I had to keep notes the old fashion way and write them down. I still have some. But a laptop with all the files available would be worth it's weight in gold after a couple of years. You'll be amazed how handly it will come in like when you need a name and number of someone you need to call for a drop. The limit is endless.

My company uses Fleetone which allows us to fill wherever Fleetone is taken, which is almost everywhere. I usually fuel at Love's and shower there too. The fuel there seems to make my truck run smoother and despite the small size I seldom have to wait for a shower. The old key system reminds me of how they all used to do it back in the day when I first drove 13 years ago. I sometimes fuel at Flying Pilots and every so often at TA/Petro. I prefer parking at Petro since most spaces are angled and the iron skillet is one of the better chain restaurants.

Get the guide so you can get the facts about them, what they carry, do they have showers, charge for staying there, transflow scanning, etc., some smelly lots, guy next to you idle all night, refer next to you making noise, get the driver payback card for free showers ($10), trip planning is a big bonus because you don't want to be pulling in to a small truck stop at 8pm expecting to find space to spend the night. Expecially if you can't back worth a dam! The showers get you a hotel room bathroom and get it early or late not during rush hour!
