Have a look at CoPilot Truck for a pad or smartphone. The routing is good and will save you some cash as you won't be paying for hardware. http://copilotlive.com/us/store/truck.asp

Learn to use a map. Then you wont be trying to tell a police officer "but my GPS said this road was ok for a 13'6" truck" (stuck in a overpass will a 11'4" clearance).

If it is a regular same route, pretrip it and look it up on the internet. Another tip is to get a grease type pencil from a stationary type store.
Write the directions on the center of the windscreen
    r on street
    l on ramp I- ?
    80 miles, exit #??
    bear right
    4 miles on right

I have yet to find a paper map where I can plot a route and then pick out the low clearance underpasses and weight limited bridges and roadways. Maybe you can point me to a source for this type of map?

I agree with lovestodrive. I wouldn t have a GPS. Then again most drivers these days couldn t make it from the bunk to the driver s seat without a GPS. Its also funny how some drivers don t like to be told what to do, but let a GPS tell them where to go, lol. Lastly, most drivers utterly fail when it comes to reading comprehension too

Rand Mcnally truckers road atlas ....

It has a section in the front for all of your low clearances , bridge law settings , ect......

Thats what I use if I think my handy tool on the windsheild is gonna lead me astray. ..

When that exit is closed due to road construction you can just put one foot on the wheel and whip out the trusty atlas to guide you home.
