Yes I have especialy when I first started driving it, we always stayed around the midwest with it, we worked on that truck all the time. My dad was one jerry riggin dude, believe it or not this truck had mack rerends in it if that tells you anything, and he was leased to Jones truck lines, at least there stickers were on the truck but we would haul for any broker, Those were the good ole days. I know you being a razorback you rembor JTL.

Whats the topic of your thesis? Or is this a general informational statistics type of research. I see that your are doing interviews with drivers are you looking to support an existing conclusion or are you looking for something new?:biggrin_25525::biggrin_25525:

First of all, great stories and videos guys!

To answer both of these questions as best I can...

There are no real "goals" of the research other than examining the industry from a sociological perspective, which will examine the work that you guys do in relation to other people's work. Ya'lls work is extremely demanding, and the rules and regulations that govern your job are unlike any other industry. Truck drivers seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place more frequently than just about any other job. For these reasons, and because of your contribution to the economy and American way of life, truckers deserve a closer look.

    Cheers.

I was just interviewed by Dan (Socy Grad ) . I think it's a good thing people outside the industry take an interest and get facts (if y'all stay honest ) about truckers right from the source . There's no reason to be hesitant to be interviewed . You have to read and sign a consent form but your name won't be used . You don't have to answer any questions you don't have to . Dan is putting a lot of work into this . He's decent to work with and somewhere down the line we may benefit from this . Getting honest feedback from drivers is better than getting it from the ATA .

Dan, I got your PM, but I haven't posted enough posts to be able to reply to the PM...strange. therefore, I'll contact you here. I'd be glad to participate in your research, but with my schedule, would prefer some written questions that I could take a couple of days to answer. Having been published previously, I don't mind my name/LLC, etc being used.

BTW, my second bachelor's degree is psychology/sociology, I love the field, and the trucking industry is a constant cross between a sociology thesis and a Jerry Springer show episode. Interesting, indeed.

Dan, if you want some info from a trucker's wife...who is just learning to cope with being a trucker's wife, you can pm me and set up a phone interview. Hubby has only been OTR for about three months...it's a major adjustment to say the least.

    Let me know.

Yes, I'm interested in all perspectives. I know that it's difficult for the drivers, and it's equally difficult for the ones that have to stay home!
