P.S. This likely would not have happened if he put a padlock on the van doors. Most thieves are opportunist. Breaking a plastic seal no problem. Cutting off a padlock is much less likely to happen.

I don't think it's hard for a thief to get through a padlock.
A padlock screams valuable stuff!
