it doesn t matter what direction youre going, you see a bus stopped with it's stop signs out you stop because it's the law..Kids are getting off the bus and some cross the street. Its doesn t hurt anyone to take time out of their busy schedule to stop a few minutes for the bus.

Here in PA you stop unless there is a median not made for travel. I.e. grass median or Jersey barriers or the slightly raised concrete divider.

A school bus stopped to pick up a severely handicapped student who was wheelchair bound on a street I used to live on. From start to finish they had the lights on for #### near 10 minutes blocking traffic on my street to pick up one kid for whom crossing the street under his own power would be a miracle.

Where I live, you are required to stop in the above situation. Only time you can procede is if there is a dividing median and you are on the opposite side of the road from the bus.

    KriegHund Thanks this.

You have to stop but if that bus driver has any sense he won't open those doors until you stop.

    Pulled this from Ohio's website.

Where a highway has been divided into four or more traffic lanes, a driver of a vehicle, streetcar, or trackless trolley need not stop for a school bus approaching from the opposite direction which has stopped for the purpose of receiving or discharging any school child, persons attending programs offered by community boards of mental health and county boards of developmental disabilities, or children attending programs offered by head start agencies. The driver of any vehicle, streetcar, or trackless trolley overtaking the school bus shall comply with division (A) of this section.
