That's extreme. Americans, particularly white Americans will always dominate the industry, as they do every other industry in terms of numbers. Someone may look like they aren't from here, like you'll see in Colorado, Texas, or California for instance, but they were born here.
Trucker wages...decreasing as time goes by.

I couldn't have said it better. I've said this in other threads too, especially when the topic is about raising minimum wage. To me that's a no brainer. My thought reading the article was much of what you said. I started in 2010 so I don't know about those "good wages." 60k a year is good money. I don't know if wages in trucking have been suppressed like they want us to think, or if costs of living went up, or even better, cost of operating a company went up.
"The prices of trucking got cheaper"
That line was in the article, and the price of trucking for owners and companies of all sizes did not get cheaper over the last 3 or 4 decades.gentleroger, Lonesome, 201 and 1 other person Thank this. -
No, because employee pay is not based upon what government assistance pays.
And besides, government assistance should not be paying anywhere near that much, nor should it be ridiculously easy for almost anybody to get.
Then I suggest you start hauling higher-paying freight / commodities so that you can afford to pay them that much - because Uncle Sam sure isn't going to make it any cheaper for you to run your business.Team818 Thanks this. -
You did not reply to anything I wrote, you just replied to yourself about your own gripes.
Poor, poor pitiful me. I am SO put upon.
Nobody loves me, everybody hates me... guess I'll go eat worms.
It is never my fault, and I have a right to everything I want no matter the cost.
The world is crazy, and full of crazy people.
Probably because most everyone is crazy about social media and grabbing on to the next hype piece instead of actually thinking things through for themselves.
"Go to college to learn nothing and get 100k+ in debt so they can hope for a better job?"
To learn nothing?
No. To learn something.
You only get out of it, what you put in to it.
I taught myself to be a computer tech, and a couple courses in JC for networking skills.
Cost? Next to nothing.
Then I was building 30k video editing workstations for nearly a decade, for a pretty decent wage.
But it seems no one is actually smart/intelligent enough these days to figure things out for themselves.
Too bad... so sad.RockinChair, bryan21384, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -

See the problem is you can't base what you want to pay or what you demand to be paid off what government can pay people not to work. Government can pay 20 an hour to sit on your ###, you notice anything about where that money comes from? Hell I could pay anybody and everybody 100 an hour you give me a big ### printing press and some ink.Dockbumper Thanks this.

Wow, IH was expensive. In 1952 my uncle bought a bunch of Mack trucks for long haul work, each one cost him $4700 fully equipped.

When my nephew wanted to be a driver I suggested he find a driving job that couldn’t be done by immigrants, because the open borders and amnesty that’s coming , will depress wages in every job that doesn’t require a college degree. Or have some significant barrier to entry.
Nephew did find a company that hauls cargo for a very particular client , and the shipper client does an intensive background check on the drivers that are allowed to haul the cargo .
No immigrants , credit, criminal and driving records must be spotless. And this also includes the parents, siblings and spouse and inlaws .Dockbumper and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
I could qualify for that job. Where exactly does one find a Company like that. Serious question. I check every one of those boxes.

#### I figured hauling PFJ pizza was hazmat but that’s a lot to ask of someone. Specifically the part where that includes parents, siblings, etc.Rubber duck kw Thanks this.
